In an effort to reach parents where they are and ultimately impact behavior, Saxum developed and executed a campaign that turns walking through the grocery store into a learning adventure for parents, caregivers and their babies. By using research-based content and activity prompts in select stores, we sought to increase interaction and communicate the importance of turning everyday moments into learning experiences.

Andy the Apple Takes Tulsa on a Learning Adventure
The majority of a baby’s brain is formed by age three, and simple actions like talking, reading and singing can help boost their development. Talking is Teaching is a public awareness and action campaign of Too Small to Fail, helping parents recognize their power to boost their children’s early brain and vocabulary development.
What We Did
Saxum met with researchers, including leading international expert Dr. Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, as well as Tulsa grocery store owners to develop the highly-customized signage and ensure an effective design approach. More than 1,000 signs were installed in four Tulsa grocery stores, and there was a total of 31 sign types and 113 sign variations.
