Every year around this time, Super Bowl parties fill living rooms across the country. While some party-goers are religious football fans, some could care less about the game (yep, guilty). No matter which kind of attendee you are, I think we can all agree that we excitedly anticipate the commercials.
This year, Super Bowl 50 commercials ranged from funny to emotional to flat out strange — what’s a puppymonkeybaby, anyway? And though the game lacked the offensive fireworks that today’s football fans have come to appreciate, the commercials made up for it in a big way. Here are some of Saxum’s favorites from Super Bowl 50.
Hyundai’s “First Date”
Hyundai targets teenagers and their parents with this ad featuring Kevin Hart. When Hart sends his daughter on a date in his car, the new car finder technology allows him to show up everywhere they go because, as the ad says, “a dad’s gotta do what a dad’s gotta do.”
Honda’s “A New Truck to Love”
We’ve seen talking animals before, but somehow this goes a step further. Sheep singing Queen’s “Somebody to Love” definitely added some excitement to the game.
NFL “Super Bowl Babies”
What better way to reminisce about the past 50 years of Super Bowl history than by celebrating the lives of the Super Bowl babies?
This one tugs at the heartstrings. A former astronaut becomes nostalgic when he gets behind the wheel of the new Audi R8 V10, which reminds him of his past space explorations.
Mini “Defy Labels”
Closely resembling the message of the Always “Like a Girl” ad, Mini wants its consumers to get away from labels. No matter who you are, Mini proposes that this car is for anyone.
