OKLAHOMA CITY – Saxum, an integrated marketing communications agency offering public relations, advertising and digital services, recently selected YWCA of Oklahoma City to receive a $50,000 pro-bono service grant for 2012-2013 as part of the agency’s Step Up program.
“The $50,000 Step Up grant is in addition to other pro bono services Saxum provides throughout the year,” said Saxum CEO Renzi Stone. “Last year, Saxum contributed $176,000 in pro bono services, and we plan for Saxum to give a comparable amount in the upcoming year.”
YWCA of Oklahoma City will work with Saxum team members to increase awareness of the nonprofit and their mission within the community. This is the fourth year of the Step Up program.
“YWCA of Oklahoma City is a deserving organization that provides critical services to our community,” Stone said. “We look forward to helping this organization advance its cause and increase community support through a strategic combination of public relations, advertising and digital efforts.”
The YWCA is best known for being the only certified shelter for women and children in Oklahoma County. In 2011, they provided direct services to 3,243 clients and assisted 13,703 clients through their crisis hotlines, outreach and prevention education efforts.
“As the only certified shelter for women and children who have experienced violence and need immediate life-saving shelter, we believe the YWCA of Oklahoma City’s services are critical to our community,” said Janet Peery, executive director and CEO of YWCA. “This grant will help us raise awareness so that everyone in our community will have access to our domestic violence and sexual assault hotlines and will know where to access help in times of crisis.”
The 2012-2013 Step Up recipients were selected with the help of advisory board members, including Ann Felton Gilliland, Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity; Bob Ross, Inasmuch Foundation; Debby Hampton, United Way of Metro Oklahoma City; Deborah McAuliffe Senner, Allied Arts; Leslie Paris, Bank of Oklahoma; Ken Busby, Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa; Mark R. Graham, Tulsa Area United Way; and Marnie Taylor, Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits.
