What was “your finest moment,” the thing you’re most proud of?
I directed communications for the Tulsa Health Department‟s 2009 H1N1 influenza response. My words and chosen communication tactics were critical to saving lives. I shed tears when the Tulsa area, like so many communities across the world, experienced deaths from the virus. It became very personal to me to do all I could to educate the public and prevent loss of life. Being a part of that response team was challenging, rewarding, and inspiring.

Melanie is a member of the most enthusiastic class in sports fandom – she is a mom, who avidly supports her baseball- and soccer-playing sons. When she’s not sitting in the bleachers, she can usually be found in a music hall or stadium where she has taken in more than 150 concerts. However, her dream is to be on stage herself, as a charter member of a groovy Go-Go’s tribute band.
